In this presentation, Bill Baue surveys the 2-decade history of sustainability standards undermining authentic sustainability, based on his forthcoming peer-reviewed study. He then shares how to apply concepts and tools such as Triple Materiality, Context-Based Sustainability, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Performance Indicators to achieve authentic sustainability (while complying with the standards), and navigate the existential risks of systemic unsustainability.
