Systems engineering has been formally implemented as a management strategy in the National Spent Nuclear Fuel Program. DOE Headquarters, DOE Operations Offices, contractors at each site that have spent nuclear fuel, and other stakeholders are working together in applying systems engineering to develop Program functions, requirements, schedules, priorities, and solutions for managing spent nuclear fuel.
