Systems Modeling Language (SysML) is a popular systems engineering languagedeveloped and promoted by INCOSE and other organizations for a number of years. However, a number of limitations have been noted and acceptance outside the thesystems engineering community for the object-oriented approach has been limited. The Lifecycle Modeling Language (LML) was developed to overcome many of theseconcerns by providing a complete ontology for capturing systems engineering andprogram management information and displaying it to decision makers. The primary issue in using LML comes from being able to translate from SysML toLML and back. Recently, the LML Steering Committee released version 1.1 of thisopen standard.
