This paper describes the Year 2000 (Y2K) problem and explains how it extends beyond the renovation of application software, to operating system software and embedded systems. It will show why fixing the Y2K problem in embedded systems will be difficult, yet crucial to preserving the defense of our nation – and specifically maintaining our warfighting Command and Control (C2) systems.
