Abstract: For thirty years, the model has been something engineers had to build by hand, and that cost- more than any doubt about the value of modeling- is why most hardware teams still ship from documents and spreadsheets. That is about to stop being true. This session shows how Dalus, a modern MBSE platform based on SysML v2, uses an AI copilot to turn requirements and existing engineering artifacts into structured models, keep those models synchronized with the tools engineers already use, and let non-modelers contribute without learning the notation. We will walk through a live demo of the workflow end to end, share what we have learned from deploying with aerospace, defense, and automotive teams, and close with a look at where AI is already doing real engineering work in SysML v2 and where the human still belongs in the loop.
Speaker bio: Sebastian Völkl is co-founder and CEO of Dalus, an AI-powered systems engineering platform built on SysML v2. Dalus was founded in San Francisco with CTO Eliot Khachi, previously a systems/test engineer at Aerojet Rocketdyne L3 Harris, where he saw the pain of Cameo Systems Modeler and a failed 2-year MBSE adoption plan. Customers use Dalus across aerospace, defense, automotive, and industrial engineering in the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
