Abstract: This webinar presents a reusable, model-based integration framework leveraging the Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI) standard to bridge the gap between systems engineering models and high-fidelity verification environments. Modern aerospace development requires seamless continuity between early architectural design and late-stage testing. To address this, the demonstrated solution establishes a transparent, bidirectional integration pathway connecting physical hardware, SysML v1 behavioral simulations, and an industry-grade flight simulator.
By wrapping heterogeneous components as Functional Mock-up Units (FMUs), the framework achieves a unified test environment capable of executing both Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) and Human-in-the-Loop (HIL/HITL) control simultaneously. This dual capability allows for real-time pilot interaction while maintaining rigorous, automated system-level execution. Crucially, the end-to-end environment enables closed-loop requirements verification, letting engineers validate system constraints against dynamic flight physics in real time. Ultimately, this approach demonstrates how open standards like FMI can break down traditional engineering silos, reduce integration risks, and accelerate the verification and validation (V&V) lifecycle of complex aerospace systems.
Key Highlights Included:
- The “What”: A reusable framework powered by FMI/FMU standards.
- The Connectivity: Seamless data flow between hardware, SysML v1, and flight sims.
- The Engine: Closed-loop verification using industry-standard flight simulation.
- The Flexibility: Simultaneous MIL and HITL control in one unified environment.
