Dr. Christian Sprague is Director of Product at the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), where he works across INCOSE’s technical community, industry partners, and academic network, to translate systems engineering knowledge into credible, useful, and accessible resources for practitioners and organizations.

Christian earned his Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from Cornell University. His doctoral research examined markets as sociotechnical systems, integrating systems engineering, data science, and social science to better understand how complex patterns of human coordination emerge. While at Cornell, he was selected as a Senior Data Science Fellow with the Cornell Center for Social Sciences, where he supported research involving cyber-infrastructure investment and user behavior.

Before joining INCOSE, Christian served as a Postdoctoral Project Manager at Cabrera Research Lab, overseeing research and development initiatives in systems thinking. He is also an adjunct professor of systems engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology.

Christian’s broader research interests center on projects and programs as systems of human coordination. His work explores how systems engineering can move beyond documenting and managing complexity toward helping organizations better understand, design, and improve the systems through which people accomplish consequential work.
