Vision Statement
My name is Stueti Gupta, an ardent member of INCOSE since 2011 (15 years and counting). Two years ago I wrote to you about why SE matters to me, how it teaches integration, problem-solving, adaptability in the face of uncertainty. I also shared a hope: that if Systems Engineering helps organizations tackle complexity, then INCOSE itself should embody those same principles in how it governs, learns, and evolves. Having now served as Secretary and a voting Board member, that hope could turn into action.
What changed on the Board
Over this term, I had the opportunity to participate in the transition toward a strategic board. To aid that I introduced a few practices that encouraged the Board to look beyond immediate operational concerns, bringing in outside perspective, and taking a harder, more honest look
at how we function as a board. Small shifts, however, they started moving us from asking “what needs to be done this quarter” to “what should INCOSE become”.
Where I want to take this next
If elected, I want to build on this momentum by focusing on three priorities.
- Institutionalize strategic governance in looking at outside in viewpoints. Ensure that strategic thinking becomes part of the Board’s operating rhythm.
- Strengthen the connection between strategy and members. Ensure the INCOSE Strategic Objectives creates value and members, practitioners in the community experience its impact.
- Make governance INCOSE’s engine for transformation. My goal is to enable focus on Board that is forward-looking, evidence-driven, and respond to a rapidly changing engineering landscape.
I believe INCOSE’s future is built on two commitments: an outside-in focus that
listens to and serves the evolving needs of our members and community, and an
inside-out commitment to continually improve itself through the relevant
principles of Systems Engineering.
