Join us for the INCOSE-Orlando monthly chapter meeting. The presentation, Grand Challenges in Industrial and Systems Engineering, will review and discuss eight grand challenges for the discipline of industrial and systems engineering (ISE), including:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) For Business and Personal Use: Decision-Making and System Design and Operations,
  • Cybersecurity and Resilience,
  • Sustainability: Environment, Energy and Infrastructure,
  • Health Issues,
  • Social Issues,
  • Logistics and Supply Chain,
  • System Integration and Operations: Humans, Automation, and AI, and
  • Industrial and Systems Engineering Education.

Our presenter, Waldemar Karwowski PhD, DSc, is a Pegasus Professor and Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He is the author or co-author of over 600 scientific publications spanning human factors, ergonomics, soft computing, and industrial and systems engineering. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF, United Kingdom), the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), the International Ergonomics Association (IEA), and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS, elected 2023).
