Inspired by INCOSE’s Sustainability Working Group, this study uses a dynamic model to show that circular design adds value only when it improves performance or reduces cost. Features that raise cost without boosting performance lead to poor adoption. The model maps feedback loops over time, revealing a practical sequence: first design for customer value, then add material recovery. The presentation shows how systems engineers can use systems thinking to align sustainability with market needs.
