Abstract:

Every system has a system architecture whether it’s formally described or not. One of the key decisions that has to be made prior to developing an architectural description is the paradigm or approach that will be used for describing a system. These paradigms include enterprise architecting, solution-oriented hardware/software architecting, product-line architecting, and IT architecting, among others. While these approaches have significant commonality, they also have unique advantages and disadvantages depending on the nature of the system and its broader context. This presentation will provide an overview of the major system architecting approaches, their advantages / disadvantages, and explore how they can be leveraged and integrated together.
