Chapters

Sectors & Chapters play an essential role in the achievement of INCOSE’s goals and objectives, organizing a multitude of professional and social programs; attracting new members from industry, government and academia; supporting technical activities striving to advance the state and art of systems engineering; and, showcasing INCOSE as the international authoritative body on systems engineering that it is.

INCOSE LatAm: Model-Based Systems Engineering with the ISE&PPOOA methodology

Meeting Title: Model-Based Systems Engineering with the ISE&PPOOA methodology

Speakers:
José Luis Fernández, PhD
Primary Language: Spanish

Date
: 7 November 2023
Time: 9 am CDMX / 10 am COL / 10 am PER / 12 pm CHI / 12 pm ARG

Location: Zoom - https://incose-org.zoom.us/j/88214890772?pwd=THhmSDFYZVE1VVZjTFBlSUxwVmVmQT09

Abstract
For a successful application of Model-Based Systems Engineering or MBSE, it is very important to have a methodological process that helps engineers think about how to define the problem and find a solution. This methodological process must be complemented with a standard notation, for example SysML, to represent the models and tools that, supporting said notation, allow the use of the methodological process. This presentation focuses on describing the main principles and characteristics of the MBSE ISE&PPOOA methodology that is based on traditional systems engineering but at the same time incorporates the development of the functional and physical architecture of the system using the SysML notation and allowing the use of different MBSE tools.

Speaker:
José Luis Fernández, PhD has more than 40 years of professional experience in national and international projects working as a researcher, systems analyst, senior engineer, coordinator, department head and consultant in the fields of air traffic control systems, avionics systems, data acquisition and industrial control systems (SCADAs) in thermal and nuclear power plants and aids to air navigation, mobile applications, home automation, building automation and medical devices. Until 2018 he was a tenured professor at ETSI Industriales (UPM) in Madrid. He is the main author of the book “Practical Model-Based Systems Engineering”, Artech House 2019. He is the author of chapters, articles and presentations in books, journals and conferences. He is a senior member of the IEEE and an active member of INCOSE and PMI participating in the writing or revision of professional guides.
