Charleston Lowcountry Chapter March Meeting

North Charleston , USA
1253 Supply Street

The Charleston Lowcountry Chapter of INCOSE invites you to join us for a tour of the Clemson University SCE&G Energy Innovation Center!

The Duke Energy Electrical Grid Research Innovation and Development (eGRID) at the SCE&G Energy Innovation Center is a test facility capable of replicating a power system anywhere in the world. By conducting a full system functional test and evaluating how a system responds to transient scenarios that happen on the grid once wind turbines are deployed, they are able to reduce both risks and costs. The eGRID boasts a 15 MW Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) grid simulator and allows wind turbine generator manufacturers to test both mechanical and electrical characteristics of their machines.

The SCE&G Energy Innovation Center also houses the world’s most advanced wind turbine drivetrain testing facility, capable of full-scale, highly accelerated mechanical and electrical testing of advanced drivetrain systems for wind turbines. The Center has two test stands: a 15 MW test rig capable of handling complete geared and direct-drive wind turbine nacelles up to 15 MW, and a “smaller” 7.5 MW test rig capable of handling gearboxes and nacelles for wind turbines up to 7.5 MW.

Due to the environment, this event is limited to 30 participants. Please RSVP soon to confirm your participation on this tour!
