Chapter Supported Projects

SySTEAM Initiative

INCOSE Cleveland Chapter participated in a SySTEAM event in northeast Ohio in conjunction with the NSBE's STEM initiatives - https://www.nsbe.org/.  The event was held at CWRU on Saturday, December 9, 2023.  INCOSE members from NASA, Vitamix, and Klinger Engineering Services volunteered their time.  Vitamix sponsored a breakfast and engaged the students by having them perform demonstrations with blenders.  Anyone interested in helping out with future activities, please contact Bill Klinger or Carl Dister by reaching out to the Chapter for more information and to get involved.

Community Resilience

For the past few years, the Chapter has supported members involved with the ReliabilityFirst and the Ohio State University Extension project to help communities become more resilient. The Project applies a proven systems-engineering appraisal framework to communities in an effort to benchmark current resilience efforts and highlight areas for improvement.  See the flyer (linked here) for details on the project, methods utilized, and expected results.  For more information reach out to the listed contacts, or visit the project page on the ReliabilityFirst website (linked here).

Invitation to Review Mil-Std-499C

Jun 3, 2005, 00:00 AM by INCOSE UMS
An update of the Military Standard 499 has been developed for use by the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) of the US Air Force Space Command.  It is intended that this standard will be used to define the government requirements for an executable contractor systems engineering process for SMC system acquisitions.

This document is not intended for use outside the domain of the Space and Missile Systems Center.  However there is nothing to prevent other acquisition agencies from using this standard for their own systems engineering efforts.

The draft of Mil-Std-499C dated 24 March 2005 will be revised at least one more time this year and submitted for publication as a military standard by the end of 2005.

If you would like to participate in the review of this draft standard, please contact Charles Halligan.  The draft standard may be downloaded from the INCOSE website in either Microsoft Word format (1.6 MB) or Adobe Acrobat format (2.3 MB). Comments are due by 24 June 2005 and should be provided on the submission form to facilitate incorporation of your feedback.

Chapter Circle Awards

The Cleveland-Northern Ohio Chapter of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) began organizing activities during the latter part of 2007, and received charter status from INCOSE during January 2008. As a result of our activities that first year, we received the Bronze level Chapter Circle Award.  We have received a Chapter Circle Award every year since.
