Weaving Systems Thinking and Systems Engineering into the Education of Most College Students

This autumn, the INCOSE Academic Council will sponsor its first Academic Forum event outside of its International Symposium. Cranfield University will host an Academic Forum on the 22nd and 23rd of October 2013 at their Bedford campus about 90 KM north of central London. Mr. Rick Adcock, INCOSE Associate Director for Education, will be the general chairman of the Forum. We are welcoming academics from universities in Europe and elsewhere already affiliated
with INCOSE, plus those with an interest in systems and systems engineering.

The aim of the Forum is to create an exciting and relevant discussion focused on an issue of interest to the broader systems engineering academic community. It is our hope that ideas, relationships, activities and potential products will emerge from this forum that will have significant value for those who attend. We are hoping the Forum will be so successful that it will become a regular event in different locales with a variety of exciting and relevant topics.

This is part of our efforts to promote INCOSE as one of the lead organisations in academic activities related to systems engineering. We also want to grow and strengthen collaboration among INCOSE-affiliated universities to share ideas and work on issues relevant to us all. We hope that this will provide all of us with an opportunity to help shape and advocate INCOSE’s academic goals and promote them both within our own universities and across the community.
