The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) is a not-for-profit membership organization founded to develop and disseminate the transdisciplinary principles and practices that enable the realization of successful systems. INCOSE is designed to connect systems engineering professionals with educational, networking, and career-advancement opportunities in the interest of developing the global community of systems engineers and systems approaches to problems. We are also focused on producing state-of-the-art work products that support and enhance this discipline’s visibility in the world.

The INCOSE International Symposium has a rich history that dates back to 1991, and has continued uninterrupted every year to the present. The symposium continues to be the largest annual gathering of systems engineering professionals, educators, and researchers.

IS2024 will be Hybrid, July 2 – 6, 2024 (Tuesday – Saturday). The symposium will be held at the Convention Center Dublin, Ireland.

The symposium is an open event and everyone who registers and pays their registration fees is welcome to attend. Attendance includes access to the technical sessions (presentations, abstracts, and electronic proceedings).

“Complex, Costly, and Challenging: The Science of Resilient Systems ” brings together a group of experts in resilience engineering to discuss this critical challenge for modern systems. The discussion begins with their perspective on why resilience is a pressing need at this point in our development. This panel explores strategies to increase resilience in modern systems, recapping successes and areas for improvement. Through case studies and theoretical frameworks, experts discuss methodologies to enhance system resilience, ensuring adaptability and robustness in the face of disruptions and challenges. From socio-technical systems to ecological networks, the discussion highlights the pivotal role of systems thinking, modeling, and simulation in addressing complexity. Participants gain insights into fostering resilience, enabling innovation, and mitigating risks in an increasingly interconnected world.

The panel will conclude with a call to action for all engineers on the need to increase the resilience of our world. This session is being brought to you by our Platinum Sponsor, Dassault Systemes.
