Founded in February, 1998, the Southern Maryland Chapter follows the INCOSE International Mission, Vision and Goals. 

Additionally, we will:

  • Continue our outreach program to support systems engineering conferences and events at both the Regional and International levels of INCOSE
  • Continue to build partnerships with local professional associations offering unique and diverse systems engineering insights while complimenting their inherent interest areas

INCOSE Colorado Front Range Chapter Virtual Meeting: Future of Systems Engineering (FuSE) with Larry Strawser

Dr. Larry D. Strawser serves as the Liaison to the International Council of Systems Engineering and the American Society of Engineering Education for the Systems Engineering program of the Whiting School of Engineering, Johns Hopkins University.

Larry has more than 35 years of professional experience focusing on acquisition program ($350M+, both hardware and software) and line (2100+ staff) management.  He successfully led large science and technology development teams and programs, and led enterprise-level strategic change to technology development processes in both government and industry.

He joined the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU APL) in 2005 where he served as the Mission Area Executive of the Strategic Deterrence Mission Area as well as a member of the Systems Engineering program of the Whiting School of Engineering.  He retired from JHU APL in 2015 while maintaining his appointment to the JHU Whiting School of Engineering.

Prior to joining JHU, Larry served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty-six years in a variety of assignments, serving in senior-level R&D positions including the Commander of Detachment 1 of the Air Force Research Laboratory and the Deputy for Advanced Technology of the Missile Defense Agency.

The Southern Maryland Chapter of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) began in February 1998.  The core group of organizers recognized the sizable Systems Engineering infrastructure  in the Patuxent River area created by the presence of the Naval Air Systems Command, the Naval Air Warfare Center (Aircraft Division and Field Activity at St. Indigos), the Naval Air Station, and a growing community of Industry partners.
