Registration is officially open for the INCOSE International Workshop (IW) 2026—the premier event of the year for systems engineers dedicated to advancing our industry.
The IW is a unique, focused gathering. Unlike the International Symposium and other conferences, there are no paper presentations, panels, or tutorials. Instead, you will spend four focused days working alongside fellow systems engineers who are there to make a difference. We encourage systems engineers at all levels and from all backgrounds to participate in these working sessions.
IW 2026 Primary Workshop Themes
This year, the IW offers two primary workshops, along with numerous smaller, interactive activities designed to explore how systems engineering can address today’s most pressing challenges in systems development.
1. A Systems Approach-Driven Application of AI and Autonomy
This workshop is an intensive, transdisciplinary session using the real-world Project Wildfire scenario and the Emergency Management Process (EMP). The focus is on tackling SE challenges and approaches for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and autonomous systems in high-stakes, socio-technical contexts.
2. Towards Continuous Integration
Integration discoveries often happen too late, increasing risk and cost. This workshop directly addresses this challenge by exploring methods to enable earlier, continuous system integration throughout the lifecycle.
