Update on Events and Meetings from Kerry Lunney, INCOSE President.

Dear INCOSE Members,

It has been quite some time since I have written to you regarding our operations under the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic.  We are all still experiencing the impacts of the pandemic and subsequent adjustments to our lives, whether at home, at work or at school.  The only predictable aspect of it all is the ongoing resurgence of the level of transmission, in particular the Delta strain. This makes it extremely hard to plan and support events and meetings which we hoped to hold face-to-face, or in the form of a hybrid event, where there is a level of remote participation.

Over the coming months there are many INCOSE events that have been planned to be held physically.  Each of these events will need to be revisited in light of the virulent Delta transmission.  As such, I urge you to keep monitoring the situation for each event.

To all INCOSE members, please follow the guidance provided by your local and national  authorities, and the World Health Organisation (WHO).  We highly discourage any INCOSE related face-to-face meeting or event that does not respect such guidance.  The  decision to change the format from a physical or hybrid event or meeting, to a fully virtual experience, is at the sole discretion of the INCOSE organiser(s).

Likewise, we will not ask any INCOSE member or business associate to travel on INCOSE business and events that would be in contradiction to, or in violation of guidance from the recognised authorities.  This includes the conduct of paper exams for our Certification program.

We recognise these restrictions can be difficult and we truly would love to move forward with more face-to-face opportunities.  Nonetheless, we must proceed with caution and care for all our members, friends, associates, and partners.  For those events and meetings that may be altered to a fully virtual program, the advantages are still very good with greater outreach and collaboration opportunities, and we urge you to embrace this virtual world.

Lastly, I would like to thank all our INCOSE volunteers and members for their outstanding dedication and support throughout the year. INCOSE would not exist without you.
