For those interested in participating in the te INCOSE Systems Engineering and Architecting Doctoral Student Network (SEANET), the application deadling has been extended to February 17. Current and soon-to-begin doctoral students are invited to participate in a 1-day workshop at USC. This event will precede the Conference on Systems Engineering Research.
INCOSE wishes to foster and accelerate doctoral research in the field of systems engineering, and one means to do this is by connecting student researchers through a network. The purpose of SEANET is to advance systems engineering research by providing a collegial support network, research resources, and industry contacts that will enable the completion of doctoral dissertations related to systems engineering.
The SEANET Workshop will feature speakers, panel sessions, and working sessions targeted for the various phases of the student’s doctoral work.

Student Intent to Participate – Information Submission
Students are encouraged to discuss their interest in participating with their academic advisor. Students are expected to have their own funds for travel costs. There will be no fee for attending the April 6th workshop. As
space is limited, we ask interested students to indicate their intent to participate as soon as possible, but no later than 17 February 2006 by completing and submitting the
Intent to Participate Form available at

Students will be informed of their final acceptance for participation in the workshop in February. Students are highly encouraged to stay for the CSER conference; there is a fee for CSER – see CSER Conference website at
http://www.incose-la.org/cser2006/index.htm for information. Students selected for participation will be asked to submit a one page research abstract and a resume/CV; these will be compiled and provided to attendees/sponsors.
Student Research Poster Session – Abstract Submission
We also encourage doctoral students to submit short abstracts on research in progress for consideration. A subset of these will be invited to present a poster during the networking event the evening of April 6. Student posters will also be on display in the exhibit hall during the CSER conference on April 7 and 8. At designated times, the students who will attend CSER will be asked to make themselves available near their poster to discuss the research with symposium attendees.
Guidelines for Poster submission:
Once accepted, students should design their posters based on the following guidelines:
- Posters should be mounted on a foam or hard cardboard base measuring no larger than 30 x 40 inches (standard foam core board size). This is large enough to arrange four 8.5 x 11 inch pages/images. Easels will be provided for poster display.
- Posters may describe completed research or work that is underway. The poster may represent any aspect of the researcher’s work, proposal, theoretical framework, methodology, findings, etc.
- Participants should not depend on laptops for their poster presentation. The message should be self-contained in the poster.
