Midwest Gateway Chapter Sponsored Certification Preparation Workshop 2021
The first session of Midwest Gateway Chapter (MGC) sponsored 2021 Certification Preparation Workshop starts Thursday, 19 Aug 2021, at 4:30PM Central Time. See details below. If planning to attend workshop, please send email to: email@example.com.
What: Certification Preparation Workshop is sixteen (16) one-hour virtual reviews of the SE Handbook Version 4 and tutorial material each week.
Why: INCOSE MGC is organizing a review workshop in preparation for a systems engineering knowledge exam. The knowledge exam is one of the requirements to become a Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP): https://www.incose.org/systems-engineering-certification.
The written knowledge exam will be offered at a yet to be determined price (around $30 more or less). It is tentatively to be held on 17 December 2021 (stay tuned for more details on the written knowledge exam itself).
Who: The preparation workshop is open to anyone (INCOSE-MGC members and non-members). The low fee knowledge exam is available to anyone although priority given to members if space is limited. INCOSE Certification requires an active INCOSE membership and submission of application information and fee.
When: Certification Workshop planned every Thursday from 19 August to 9 December 2021 at 4:30pm Central Time. Sessions last 1 hour.
How: Some CSEPs/ASEPs are attending to provide discussion and advice on becoming certified.
2021 SEP Certification Cohorts Sessions (offered by the LA and SD chapters)
2021 Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) Certification Group Study ‘Cohorts’ Sessions
The Los Angeles and San Diego chapters are hosting two independent group study (‘cohorts’) sessions for INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification this Spring and Summer, 2021. This will be a collaborative weekly meeting where the ‘cohorts’ (students) virtually meet to discuss and present on the INCOSE Handbook, Version 4. This handbook is the basis for the SEP test.
Please note that these study sessions will conclude just prior to the 2021 Western States Regional Conference (WSRC)
in San Diego, California, scheduled for 17-19 September 2021. The WSRC will offer an inexpensive SEP paper test, allowing the cohorts to apply what they’ve learned almost immediately after the sessions, giving each cohort a better chance of passing and obtaining their INCOSE ASEP or CSEP certification!
14-Week Cohorts Session (2 separate teams)
Dates and Times:
Afternoon Cohort – Wednesdays, 12-1PM, May 26 – Aug 25, 2021 (RSVP HERE)
Evening Cohort – Thursdays, 7:30-8:30PM, May 27 – Aug 26, 2021 (RSVP HERE)
(Note – You can sign up for one or both of the above cohort sessions)
Format: Each cohort is assigned one INCOSE Handbook topic area. If many sign up, then multiple cohorts will be assigned to the same area. Each week, a cohort 2-person team will present their assignment. Slides of their presentation will be uploaded to the common document repository NLT 24 hours beforehand (e.g., Tuesday at noon).
Notes – Students will be responsible for reading Chapter 2, Systems Engineering Overview BEFORE session 2. They are also responsible for reading Chapter 6, Agreement Processes (5 pages), on their own.
