Abstract:

As systems engineers, we often engage in innovative activities on our projects.  We serve as the focal point creating new products or solving challenging problems.  In this presentation, we will discuss nine basic concepts that can influence the direction, and ultimate outcome, of projects--design, analysis, development, failure, networks, computer technology, society, politics, and systems interactions.  We will vividly demonstrate these concepts by relating them to common ordinary objects; this will make it easier to understand and appreciate them.
