Academic Equivalency for University of Maryland Baltimore County

SAN DIEGO (8 July 2021) – The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) proudly announces the INCOSE Certification program has recognized the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and awards them Academic Equivalency for their SYST 660 course. This course assists students in demonstrating their systems engineering knowledge in both traditional and emerging industry sectors in the Baltimore - Washington, DC area.

Their students include mostly working professionals as well. INCOSE awarded this Academic Equivalency in January 2021.

With this equivalency in place, students who demonstrate systems engineering knowledge through approved coursework will not have to take the INCOSE Knowledge Exam to certify. This knowledge demonstration is key in achieving both ASEP and CSEP certifications making this equivalency a great benefit to the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Kerry Lunney, INCOSE’s president, says: “It is INCOSE’s pleasure to collaborate with the University of Maryland Baltimore County to increase the systems engineering competence of the workforce. By offering university coursework based on the INCOSE systems engineering handbook, universities such as UMBC help their students align with many current practices in the professional world. Students who perform well in the Academic Equivalency coursework will can waive the INCOSE knowledge exam when applying for their ASEP or CSEP certification.”
