Abstract:

As systems engineers, we often engage in innovative activities on our projects.  We serve as the focal point creating new products or solving challenging problems.  In this presentation, we will discuss nine basic concepts that can influence the direction, and ultimate outcome, of projects--design, analysis, development, failure, networks, computer technology, society, politics, and systems interactions.  We will vividly demonstrate these concepts by relating them to common ordinary objects; this will make it easier to understand and appreciate them.

Professional Biography:

Paul White
Paul White works as a senior systems engineer on the A-10 program for KIHOMAC in Layton, Utah.  Previously, he worked as a systems engineer on the Airbus A400M and Boeing EDCU programs for Astronautics Corporation of America in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; a systems engineer on both the Big Safari and IBS programs for L-3 Communications in Greenville, Texas; and a factory automation engineer for Hyundai in Eugene, Oregon.  He has sixteen years of experience in the aerospace industry.

Paul has been an INCOSE member since 2007.  From 2007 - 2011, he served in the North Texas (Dallas - Fort Worth) chapter in various officer roles.  From 2011 - 2015, he served in the Chicagoland chapter, particularly as chapter president in 2014.  Since 2015, he has served as chapter president for our Wasatch chapter.

Paul has been involved in the annual Great Lakes Regional Conference (GLRC) since 2012.  He served as the conference chair for the 6th and 8th GLRCs, both held in Schaumburg, Illinois.  He presented at the 10th GLRC and is the surplus sharing chair for this year's 11th GLRC in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
